TEACHER: Unlike the artists in Paete, the artist in this video did not
use wood as a mold for his dragon. Could
you tell what he was using to help the dragon hold its shape?
STUDENTS: Wire
He uses wire instead of wood to help him mold his shapes. Paper mache can be molded in many different ways. The artist used the wire to help him make many little parts that he joined together to make the whole dragon. Let’s use tallies to help us decide what parts of the sea dragon we liked the best.
(Write the following body parts on the board, leaving spaces between each for tally marks: wings; claws; tail; head. Select a volunteer to come up and help you make a tally next to each part that is chosen.)
Raise your hand if you liked the wings the best…Raise your hand if you liked the claws the best…etc.
(Count up your tallies and announce the winner.)
