Woodblock Stamping Video
TEACHER: We are going to watch a video of an artist in India using woodblocks to print a design on a large piece of cloth. In many places in the world, cloth stamping is now done with a machine, but in some places in India, people are still doing it by hand. Watch how quickly and carefully he works.

TEACHER: What did you notice about how he stamped the design onto the cloth?
STUDENTS: He was fast. He hit the block firmly with his hand each time he stamped it. He left the same amount of space between each stamp. He had to be very careful to line up the new design with the old design each time he added a new color, or turned a corner.
Now you can see how much time and practice it takes to print a design onto a piece of cloth.
