Charcoal - Write and Draw
Teacher Writing Prompt: Today, you are going to write and draw three things you learned while we were studying charcoal. You learned how trees help animals, the environment and people. On the first sheet of paper, draw a picture of one or more ways you know how trees help animals. Then use the lines below to explain what you drew in your picture. On the second sheet of paper, draw a picture of one or more ways you know how trees help the environment. Then use the lines below to explain what you drew in your picture. Finally, on the third sheet, draw a picture of one or more ways you know how trees help people. Then use the lines below to explain what you drew in your picture. Be sure to add lots of details to your drawing and labels to explain your work.
*If you made a chart with your class while reading the photo card, you may have the students refer to it while doing their writing. Or, you might review the chart as a class, and then remove it from their view, so you can use this activity as an assessment.
(This write and draw activity can also be divided to accommodate students who may have difficulty writing about all three topics on the same day.)
Click on the link below to print a write and draw sheet. Use the box at the top for the picture and the lines below for writing. The sheet can be copied double sided if you want your students to have more room for writing and drawing.
